Detroit used a timely hit from Ben Shafer to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Giants ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"We did a lot of things right," said Shafer.
