Lebron Hits 2 home runs in Shiners Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Oakland Invaders and Charleston Shiners get after it.
No one was more impactful than Danny Lebron in the 11-4 Charleston win over Oakland. Lebron, who finished 5th in the NC in triples with 8 last year, went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Charleston pitcher Andy Weatherholt got the win, upping his record to 7-4. Jaiden Harvey got the loss.
Cole Calkins had a big 3-run home run for the Shiners in the bottom of the first inning. With Charleston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jaiden Harvey and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Shiners on top, 4-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Lebron told the Charleston News.
The win gives Charleston a season record of 43-38.
