Tampa Bay turned a good effort from starter Bobby Purdy into a win over the Detroit Giants at Ballpark of Detroit. The final score was 6-0. The win puts Tampa Bay at 6-3.

Steve Post had a big 3-run home run for the Captains in the top of the seventh inning. With Tampa Bay leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Heath Maughn and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Captains on top, 6-0.

"We took home the win," said Purdy. "What's not to like?"
