Mahan Hits 2 home runs in 23ers Win
Getting a good performance from catcher Josh Mahan, the Fountain Hills 23ers defeated the Chicago Gangsters, 5-3. Mahan went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the 23ers. Albert Fabian, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. Picking up his 1st save was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Wade McGonigle.

Mahan contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Fountain Hills in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Mahan took a curveball from Chris Zich and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the 23ers to leap in front, 5-3.

"We did a lot of things right," said Mahan.

The loss drops Chicago to 2-7.
