Whistlers Flatten Captains, 9-2

Thanks in large part to right fielder Dillon Rodriquez, the Boston Whistlers beat the Tampa Bay Captains, 9-2. Rodriquez went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Pat Wilber got the win, improving to 11-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 1. By defeating Tampa Bay, the first-place Whistlers improved to 46-35.
Brian Roseman had a big 2-run double for the Whistlers in the bottom of the second inning. With Boston leading 4-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Ray Rorie, who is tied for 10th in the AC in wins with 7, and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Whistlers ahead, 6-1.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Erik Thames.
