Reapers Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Carolina Reapers, despite a fine performance by Oakland pitcher Dennis Allen, grabbed a 3-2 win at Reedy River Stadium. Allen allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings. Shane Edwards got the save, his 3rd in 4 chances. With the win over Oakland, the Reapers improved to 33-48.
Sean Heichel drove in one run for Carolina. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Heichel had a clutch at-bat. Facing Oakland hurler Tom Paolucci, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Reapers a 3-2 lead.
Oakland manager Adam Ponder said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
