Though he had a terrific game, Paul Ainsworth could not prevent his team, the Hollywood Stars, from absorbing a loss. Daytona Beach won the game, 8-5. Ainsworth went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Alan Champagne was the winner. He's now 6-6. The loser was Chris Phillips. David Rogers earned his 16th save in 22 chances.

Daytona Beach used a well-timed hit by Mark Root to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sea Turtles ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Root told the Daytona Beach Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."

Daytona Beach currently is in third place in the National Conference South Division at 37-43.
