Royals Capture Close Win
|
The Chicago Gangsters and Cincinnati Royals provided some drama for the home crowd.
It took 13 innings, but the Cincinnati Royals were able to beat the Chicago Gangsters, 8-7, at The Hideout. Aaron Jalbert provided some offensive muscle for Cincinnati. He went 1-3 with a home run, 3 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jayson Wagner in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Nick Thompson took the loss. Dane Roberts was credited with the save, his 1st in 4 tries.
Cincinnati needed the clutch hitting of Rick Brown to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Royals on top, 8-7. For the game, Brown had 1 home run and 3 singles in 6 at-bats.
"Big win," said Brown.
The losing streak for Chicago has now reached 4 games.
