3-1 Win for Philadelphia Over Halifax
|
Philadelphia turned a fine outing from starter Scott White into a victory over the Halifax Heathens at Marauders Ballpark. The final score was 3-1. The first-place Marauders now have a record of 50-30.
The Heathens had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Marauders going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old first baseman Carlos Barreto came to the plate. Barreto hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Halifax hurler Dan Fischer. It was Barreto's 23rd home run of the year.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Philadelphia manager Danny Ordaz.
