Eagles Stadium was the site for National Conference action featuring the Tampa Bay Captains and Indianapolis Eagles.

Ray Dappen was superb against Tampa Bay. The right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the NC with a 2.50 ERA, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Eagles victory. The score was 4-1. James Gibson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.

Dappen imposed his will on the Captains, scattering 3 hits over 7 innings while striking out 10. The right-hander upped his season record to 7-4.

"Ray had good life on his pitches," said Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay.

The triumph puts Indianapolis at 47-32 for the season.
