Fire Collect 4-1 Win Over Reapers
The Carolina Reapers got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Cates, but the San Francisco Fire still won the game, 4-1. Cates threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. San Francisco reliever Keith Hawes picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jake Schmitt absorbed the loss. Jesus Henriguez closed the door for San Francisco, picking up his 20th save of the year.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jim Hofland? The 23-year old left fielder Hofland stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put San Francisco up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"I really like what we did out there today," Hofland said after the game.

The Fire have now reeled off 6 straight wins.
