Reapers Down Fire, 5-3
|
In the 5-3 Carolina win over San Francisco, the impact of Blake Benigno was substantial. Benigno, who is tied for 7th in the NC with a .401 on-base percentage, was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Andy Hannah, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Carolina is now 31-48, San Francisco 36-43.
Carolina won the game in part because of Jose Lazaro. The third baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Reapers ahead, 5-3. For the game, Lazaro had 1 double and 1 home run in 6 at-bats.
"It was our day today," Lazaro told the Carolina Observer. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
