Fire Rally Late to Nip Shiners
|
The San Francisco Fire saddled the Charleston Shiners with a loss at San Francisco Grounds. The final score was 5-4. Dennis Quesada was 2 for 3, including 1 single and 1 home run. The San Francisco first baseman scored 1 run and drove in 2. San Francisco is now 38-40, while Charleston is 42-36.
The Fire were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when former first round draft pick Franklin Reyes landed a big blow. He turned a 1-0 slider from Jon Reynolds into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the San Francisco Grounds denizens into a frenzy and sent the Fire home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Charleston manager Chad Hart. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
