The Austin Desperados picked up a win at Dell Diamond, taking down the Hollywood Stars, 3-2. Starting pitcher Luke Scrimger was a big reason why. Scrimger, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Jon Cordova recorded his 1st save for Austin.

Drew Riggi, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft, helped out the Austin cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the second baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.

In comments to the Austin Citizen, Scrimger admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."

The win gives Austin a record of 4-4.
