Fire Get Past Carolina, 5-4
|
Led by Noel Cusack, the San Francisco Fire downed the Carolina Reapers, 5-4. Cusack hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Fire. The last-place Reapers have dropped 5 straight games.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With San Francisco trailing 4-3, Jim Hofland hit a fastball from Jake Schmitt to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Fire had a walk-off win.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Julio Rodriguez told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
