The Detroit Giants did just enough to sneak past the Phoenix Gladiators, 6-5, at Gladiators Ballpark. Detroit pitcher Julian Bryant, in particular, had a standout performance. Lee Maher closed out the game, earning his 13th save. The loss makes Phoenix 28-48.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 31-year old catcher Cameron Witt. Witt had a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Giants ahead, 5-4. For the game, Witt had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Julian was throwing strikes, locating well," said Detroit manager Sean O'Leary.
