Lovell Lifts Maroons to 8-5 Triumph
|
The Montreal Maroons beat the Dallas Dragons, 8-5, at Tennant Healthcare Ballpark. The win was due in part to third baseman David Lovell, who went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Mario Salazar got the win, improving to 5-6. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Ron Faulkner picked up the save, his 23rd.
Montreal used the clutch hitting of Quinn Kovacs to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Maroons the lead, 4-2. For the game, Kovacs had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Kovacs. "It sure beats the alternative."
The third-place Maroons are 38-38.
