The skies opened up and the rain fell at Ballpark of Miami.

Starting pitcher Carlos Mejia pitched well enough to help the Miami Boll Weevils beat the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, 6-4. Zack Cunningham picked up the save, his 15th.

The Boll Weevils got a big at-bat from right fielder Jason Bloom. For the game, Bloom was 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Miami a 2-1 lead.

"Carlos is good at sticking to his strengths," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.

Miami is now 68-71, while Stockton is 65-74.
