Hialeah Tumbles Again, Falls, 2-1, to Stockton
|
In a tight tilt between the Stockton Ragin Cajuns and the Hialeah Firecats, Rick Collins was the deciding factor. The Stockton right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Collins got the win, improving to 13-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Hialeah now owns a losing streak of 11 games.
The Firecats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Ragin Cajuns going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old second baseman Matt Lubinski came to the plate. Lubinski hit a solo home run on a 0-1 slider from Hialeah hurler Chris Mueller. It was Lubinski's 10th home run of the year.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Stockton skipper Jeffrey Troke. "I can't complain."
