Cavalry Prevail, 8-6, Over Hialeah
|
The St. Louis Cavalry besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Hialeah center fielder Travis Eastlack by beating the Firecats, 8-6, at Cavalry Ballpark. Eastlack was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Andrew Braden, who is tied for 5th in the W-AA in innings pitched with 165.1, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. The last-place Cavalry own a record of 40-97.
Darwin Honda had a big 3-run home run for the Cavalry in the bottom of the third inning. With St. Louis leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a knuckle curve from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Yeager and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Cavalry on top, 6-2.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Honda, "and then get after it again."
