Spirited fans greeted the London Tigers for their clash with the Miami Boll Weevils.

Miami overcame a superior effort from John Cochran to beat London, 5-1. The London pitcher threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball. Brent Kuest earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 6-5.

Miami used a timely hit from David Reed to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Boll Weevils ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"That's how you're going to be successful," said Boll Weevils manager Bill Murtha. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."

The Boll Weevils, at 59-76, inhabit 5th place in the Western AA Coastal Division.
