Boll Weevils Win 6-4 Walk-Off

The Miami Boll Weevils picked up a win at Ballpark of Miami, knocking off the St. Louis Cavalry, 6-4. Starting pitcher Gerardo Matute was a big reason why. The winner in relief was Brent Kuest. He is now 5-5. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Miami, at 57-76, holds down 5th place in the Western AA Coastal Division.
The game reached a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Miami trailing 4-3, Steve Bailey delivered the decisive blow, stroking a fastball from Eric Whiting for a 3-run home run. Ballgame.
"Gerardo went out and did what we needed," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
