The Cornwall Royals took Miami pitcher Gerardo Matute's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Miami. The final score had Cornwall getting past the Boll Weevils, 4-2. Matute went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. Chris Porter earned the save, his 30th. The third-place Royals improved to 61-68.

Michael Soria came through with a big-time hit for Cornwall. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Soria said after the game.
