The Sonoma Scorpions topped the Hialeah Firecats, 8-3, in Western AA action at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. The game was highlighted by the performance of Sonoma pitcher Alex Perez. Perez, now 6-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Scorpions raised their record to 75-56.

The Scorpions got a big at-bat from shortstop Josh Meeker, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Scorpions on top, 3-0.

"Winning is contagious," said Meeker. "We're looking forward to the next game."
