Tigercats Pull Out Late Win, 2-1
|
The Vail Tigercats had to overcome a fine effort from Augusta pitcher Omar Sotelo to win, 2-1, at Vail Grounds. Sotelo went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. T.J. Grimm earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 5-4. The wins continue to add up for Vail. The latest makes it 9 in a row.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Capitols allowed the Tigercats to score the winning run.
Andrews said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
