Hialeah Stopped, 6-1, by Sonoma
|
The Sonoma Scorpions rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Ken Springer to a win, beating the Hialeah Firecats, 6-1, at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. Springer got the win, improving to 14-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Sonoma is third in the Western AA Central Division with a record of 74-56.
The Firecats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Scorpions going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old right fielder Nate Galloway came to the plate. Galloway hit a 3-run home run on a 1-2 fastball from Hialeah hurler Chris Mueller. It was Galloway's 23rd home run of the year.
"I really like what we did out there today," Galloway said after the game.
