Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Vermont Milkmen and Miami Boll Weevils.

Vermont Milkmen pitcher Abel Viar was in fine form, leading his team past the Miami Boll Weevils, 2-1. The win was credited to Dusty Thomas in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Mike Kelley took the loss. T.J. Hoffarth was credited with the save for Vermont, his 13th of the season.

Josh Taylor had a direct impact on the outcome. Taylor contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Vermont up, 2-1.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.

The third-place Milkmen improved to 57-73.
