The Vail Tigercats eked out a 2-1 win versus the Hialeah Firecats at Vail Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Danny Gonzales. He was terrific. Joseph Scale earned the save for Vail, his 2nd of the year. The 4th-place Tigercats lifted their record to 74-56.

The Tigercats took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Troy Hermann banged a two-out single. Vail had been trailing 1-0, but Hermann hit a 1-1 slider from Tim Little for a 2-run single.

"We're one win closer to our goal," Gonzales said in postgame remarks.
