Bombardiers Lose to Sonoma, 3-1
|
The Sonoma Scorpions picked up a win at Ballpark of Cincinnati, downing the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 3-1. On the mound for Sonoma was right-hander Steve Bueno, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 7 innings, Bueno surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Shissho Matsuno locked down his 11th save.
Sonoma used the hitting of Cameron Williams to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 3-1. For the game, Williams had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Bueno said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
By defeating Cincinnati, the third-place Scorpions improved to 73-54.
