Cincinnati got a strong outing from Heath Maughn as the Bombardiers defeated the Vermont Milkmen, 3-1, at Emeralds Ballpark. The winner was Maughn. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Pat Wilber. The victory gives Cincinnati a record of 69-59.

Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Clark Friend to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Bombardiers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Maughn. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
