Mudge, Miami Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
In a low-scoring affair between the Miami Boll Weevils and the Augusta Capitols, pitcher Mike Mudge was the difference between victory and defeat. The Miami right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 Boll Weevils win. Getting the save was Dave Vondrasek, his 17th. At 59-68, Miami is in 4th place in the Western AA Coastal Division.

Mudge was the winning pitcher. He raised his season record to 7-13. In 8 innings of work, Mudge gave up no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 5. The Capitols were never able to generate much offense.

"Mike is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
