Vermont wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Keisuke Deshimaru, falling to the Augusta Capitols, 3-2. Deshimaru threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The Western AA Coastal Division-leading Capitols have a record of 89-39.

Julio Negron found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Vermont hurler Guillermo Marquez, the 20-year-old right fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 68th walk of the season put the Capitols on top, 3-2.
