Boll Weevils Drop Another One, 9-2
|
The Vermont Milkmen stopped the Miami Boll Weevils, 9-2, at Emeralds Ballpark. The Milkmen got a big game from Bob Docampo, who was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Mike Hall went 5.2 innings for Vermont to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 7. His record improves to 9-7. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for the Milkmen.
Dan Conde had a big 2-run double for the Milkmen in the bottom of the first inning. With Vermont leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Arnerich and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Milkmen ahead, 4-1.
"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Bill Murtha.
