The Vermont Milkmen overcame a good performance by Augusta center fielder David Erb to knock off Augusta, 9-7, at The Capitol Dome. Erb went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Allen D'Amico, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 2. With the win, Vermont goes to 61-66, while the Capitols fall to 74-53.

Timely hitting helped the Milkmen beat the Capitols. Prime example: the two-out single Mike Middlebrooks registered in the top of the seventh. Facing Danny Barnett, Middlebrooks gave his team the lead, 8-7, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Middlebrooks, "but we got it done."
