Bombardiers Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Cincinnati Bombardiers scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Hialeah Firecats at Ballpark of Cincinnati. Cincinnati pitcher Jose Perez held his own in the contest. The winning pitcher was Perez, now 16-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The win gives Cincinnati a season record of 68-59.
The Firecats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Bombardiers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging third baseman Alex Ochoa came to the plate. Ochoa hit a solo home run on a 2-2 sinker from Hialeah hurler Eric Albright. It was Ochoa's 27th home run of the year.
"I thought Jose threw the ball well across the board," said Cincinnati manager Carlos Almendarez.
