Both teams had their chances, but the Sonoma Scorpions eventually prevailed.

The Sonoma Scorpions weathered an outstanding game by Vail designated hitter Lance Kacmarcik to topple the Tigercats, 5-4. Kacmarcik was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Mike Arnerich earned the win to go to 7-0. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 7 innings of work.

The Scorpions got a big at-bat from third baseman Jared Smith. For the game, Smith was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Sonoma a 3-0 lead.

"This was a good win," said Smith.
