Tigercats Come Up Short at Sonoma, 3-2
|
Ballpark of North Richland Hills was the site of a tense game between the Vail Tigercats and Sonoma Scorpions.
The Sonoma Scorpions knocked off the Vail Tigercats, 3-2, in Western AA action at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. Sonoma pitcher and Centennial, Colorado, native Brian Hayden had an outstanding performance. Sonoma pitcher Justin Walker earned the win, hiking his record to 5-1. Josh Howard suffered the loss.
Omar Perez went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for Sonoma. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Perez had a clutch at-bat. Facing Vail hurler Josh Howard, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Scorpions a 3-2 lead.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Sonoma manager Elias Nunez.
The Scorpions have a one-game lead in the Western AA Central Division.
