Tigercats Earn 5-1 Home Win
|
Vail pitcher Jon Clark did his part in helping his team beat the Sonoma Scorpions, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Clark picked up the win for Vail, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0. At 72-55, the Tigercats have a slim two-game lead in the Western AA Central Division.
Geoff Hereth had a big 2-run triple for the Tigercats in the bottom of the third inning. With Vail leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Sam Naber and swatted a triple to right. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigercats ahead, 3-0.
"Jon did a good job keeping the game under control," said Vail manager Mike Alexander.
