Jon Escobar was nothing short of phenomenal for the Hamilton Bulldogs. The 27-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Cornwall Royals, 5-0. The winner was Escobar. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Angelo Quezada. With the victory, the Bulldogs upped their record to 74-51.

Sean Custis was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs for Hamilton. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Angelo Quezada. It was his 70th hit of the season.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Hamilton manager Emmanuel Montano. "It's usually not just one thing."
