Thanks in large part to left fielder Eddie Mongold, the Vail Tigercats beat the Sonoma Scorpions, 6-2. Mongold was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Dakota Penwell picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-2. Mark Crocker was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Tigercats upped their record to 65-59.

Vail catcher Ryan Kalthoff contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Tigercats ahead, 2-0.

"We took home the win," said Kalthoff. "What's not to like?"
