Bulldogs Win 2-1 Nail-Biter Versus Tigercats
|
Vail pitcher Rich Mack gave the Bulldogs all they could handle, but in the end, Hamilton left Mariachis Ballpark with a win, 2-1. Mack allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 8.2 innings. The Bulldogs saw their win-loss record go to 74-49. At the same time, the Tigercats fell to 70-53.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Hamilton catcher D.J. Newby, facing Vinny Ceja, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Bulldogs the 2-1 win.
Newby attributed the win to "making big pitches in big moments."
