Bombardiers Prevail, 7-5, Over St. Louis
|
Sam Frederick was a vital contributor to the 7-5 Cincinnati victory over St. Louis. The Bombardiers right fielder went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Isiah Hamlin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 13 save opportunities. With the win, Cincinnati pushed its record to 66-58.
Steve Gunnells drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate for Cincinnati. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Antonio Chacon. It was his 22nd walk of the season.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Frederick told the Cincinnati Herald.
