Vermont pitcher Nate Benson gave the Tigercats all they could handle, but in the end, Vail left Emeralds Ballpark with a win, 2-1. Benson allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings. Picking up the save was Kyle Schroeder, his 22nd. Vail now sits at 66-57, while Vermont falls to 48-75.

Tied up with the Milkmen in the top of the fifth inning, the Tigercats got a boost from right fielder Nick Raiff. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Raiff saw a 2-2 changeup from Nate Benson and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Vail on top, 1-0.

Raiff attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
