The Miami Boll Weevils defeated the Cornwall Royals, 6-1, in Western AA action at King George Park. Miami pitcher Jason Alvers had a standout performance. Alvers, now 7-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Miami currently is in third place in the Western AA Coastal Division at 57-65.

Justin Steltenpohl, the 23-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Steltenpohl contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Miami up, 3-0.
