Tigers Suffer One-Run Loss at Vermont
|
The Vermont Milkmen did just enough to sneak past the London Tigers, 4-3, at Emeralds Ballpark. Vermont pitcher Dusty Thomas, in particular, had a standout performance. Thomas yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-12. Jason Phillips earned save number 18 this season.
Chris Olsen had a big solo home run for the Milkmen in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Vermont leading 3-1 and the bases empty, he got a cutter from Travis Gross, who is tied for 6th in the W-AA in complete games with 1, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Milkmen ahead, 4-1.
Vermont manager Mike Barriga called it "a pretty good win."
The Milkmen now have a record of 48-74.
