Cavalry Capture Close Win
|
The St. Louis Cavalry found a way to sneak past the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 5-4, in 16 innings. St. Louis pitcher Bernie Rios, for one, had a standout performance. Zhi-gang Loong earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-6. The Cavalry sport a record of 48-74.
Brent Hauke went 1 for 5 with a walk for St. Louis. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the 16th inning, Hauke, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2019 draft, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cincinnati hurler Kasey Acree, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Cavalry a 2-1 lead.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Hauke.
