The Miami Boll Weevils polished off the Vail Tigercats by the score of 7-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to first baseman Tom Gessner. Gessner was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Boll Weevils. Greg Brittingham notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Gessner had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-1 splitter from Mike Brown, he banged a grand slam home run to right-center, giving the Boll Weevils a 6-3 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Gessner.
