Capitols Need Extra Frames to Get Past Scorpions
|
The timely hitting of Regis Roper helped the Augusta Capitols take down the Sonoma Scorpions, 8-4, in 16 innings. Roper went 2-7 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for the Capitols. At 65-56, the Capitols have a slim two-game lead in the Western AA Coastal Division.
Augusta needed the clutch hitting of Tobias Rivera to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 16th inning to put the Capitols on top, 5-4. For the game, Rivera had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
Said Sonoma manager Elias Nunez: "They did a lot of things right. We did a lot of things wrong."
