Tigercats Dealt 7-5 Home Loss
|
The Miami Boll Weevils overcame a pretty good performance by Vail first baseman Curtis Rittenberry, beating the Tigercats, 7-5, at Vail Grounds. Rittenberry went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Miami pitcher Dan Dean got the win. He's now 3-0. Ismael Resendez was tagged with the loss. The third-place Tigercats now sit at 71-49.
Had David Reed not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Reed hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Boll Weevils.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Reed told the Miami Observer.
