Augusta and Cornwall got after it at King George Park.
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Josh Higgs, the Augusta Capitols defeated the Cornwall Royals, 9-5. Higgs was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Capitols. The win gives Augusta a season record of 71-51.
Bryan Agin drew 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for Augusta. The 23-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Myles Winston. It was his 44th RBI of the season.
"This was a nice win for us," said Agin. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
