Tigercats Handle Boll Weevils, 3-1
|
In a tight affair between the Vail Tigercats and the Miami Boll Weevils, pitcher Jon Clark was in the zone. The Vail right-hander helped his team win the game, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Clark, now 3-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Vail now sports a record of 69-53.
In the bottom of the sixth, Vail third baseman Joe Lilley whacked a fastball to center for a run-scoring double. His 13th double of the season put the Tigercats in front, 2-1.
"Not to be Captain Obvious," said Miami manager Bill Murtha, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
