Vail got a strong outing from Jesus Howell as the Tigercats defeated the Miami Boll Weevils, 1-0, at Vail Grounds. Vail reliever Danny Gonzales was the winner. His record is now 5-9. The losing pitcher was Nick Chinn. The 'W' lifts Vail's record to 68-53.

The Tigercats got a clutch hit from shortstop Corey Young. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Tigercats.

"Jesus kept his poise and got the job done," said Vail manager Mike Alexander. "He was outstanding."
