Bulldogs Best Ragin Cajuns in Pitching Duel
|
Mariachis Ballpark was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, Andy Swift, the 18th overall pick in the 2018 draft, was the difference-maker. The Hamilton left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The winner was Swift. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Matt Dickson.
The Ragin Cajuns had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Bulldogs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old first baseman J.J. Hassell came to the plate. Hassell hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 splitter from Stockton hurler Matt Dickson. It was Hassell's 22nd double of the year.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Stockton manager Jeffrey Troke.
The current losing streak for Stockton has reached 4 games.
