Milkmen Continue Skid, Thanks to Martin, Cavalry
|
Pat Martin made an impact in the 7-6 St. Louis win over Vermont. Martin, who is tied for 8th in the W-AA in runs scored with 57, went 4-4 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. St. Louis reliever Edgar Ramirez picked up the win, while Mike Hall took the loss for Vermont. Even with the win, the Cavalry have a dismal 39-79 record.
St. Louis used a well-timed hit by Doug Grimm to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cavalry ahead, 6-5. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"We ground out the win," said Grimm. "That's all that matters."
