The Cincinnati Bombardiers defeated the St. Louis Cavalry, 8-6. Right Fielder Randy Wheat deserved a large share of the credit. Wheat went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Bombardiers. Cincinnati is now 57-62, St. Louis 48-71.

With Cincinnati leading 4-0 in the bottom of the third, Wheat came up to bat against St. Louis pitcher Vic Vance. Wheat hit a fastball to center for a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Bombardiers on top, 6-0.

"It never gets old," said Wheat. "Winning, that is."
