Firecats Handle Cincinnati, Snag 3-2 Win
|
Hialeah Firecats starter Marc Wilson turned in a sparkling performance against the Cincinnati Bombardiers, leading his team to a 3-2 win. In 6.2 innings, Wilson surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Miguel Estrada earned the save for Hialeah, his 2nd of the year.
David Hollick had a big run-scoring double for the Firecats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Hialeah leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Compean and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firecats ahead, 3-0.
"We won," Hollick told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
The Firecats improved their record to 47-70 with the win over Cincinnati.
